Great!  The day we were supposed to go home (Jan 10th) was the day that CDC warned against traveling to Canada and elevated the country to Level 4 travel advisory!  Well, instead of a quick exodus, our stay had to be prolonged due to a positive antigen test the day before.  We gave ourselves one week to recover.  However, on day-9, the home test kit indicated that I still remained positive.  Much improved symptoms, but still positive?  By now, calling Expedia to rebook is becoming familiar and setting up another Covid testing appointment at the pharmacy was on autopilot.  We gave ourselves another 2 days to recover.   Scripture reading on the morning of January 17 included this verse, "My child, don't lose sight of common sense and discernment.  Hang on to them."  Proverbs 3:21.  After reading this verse, God gave me a revelation.  How about looking into traveling by land?  A quick Googling of the Covid requireme...

It is rare for my father to ask about our college days, but for some reason, he asked one afternoon, so I answered.  Usually he likes to talk about himself.  That day was different. It felt special that he was interested about my past. So I used the analogy of father-child relationship to invite him to open his heart for God to have an intimate relationship with him. He said that he understands and believes in his heart but he would not admit it with his mouth .  I told him that Jesus promised that if he opens his heart, He will go in to do some cleaning and reconstruction, and he will start experiencing changes that he cannot even explain himself. I invited him to say yes to a new life three times. Mom also assured him that we will not make a big deal out of his decision. Unfortunately, he still maintained that it was a “no” at that time. It feels like I have un-retired. I was researching past midnight about when to expect the viral load to be low enough for us to retake the antigen test to yield negative results.  Then I called Expedia to rebook our flight back to Honolulu based on our best guess. Today, I spent more than 12 hours on my iPhone using productivity and utility apps.  First time we Zoomed with immediate family not to socialize but for family business. Throughout the day, I was making and receiving reports regarding care services for dad.  I must applaud my 13 Pro’s battery life and my isolation suite’s wifi capacity.  Bravo! Day zero (onset of symptoms) was Jan 7 for me and P. My rapid test was negative on Jan 8 and positive on Jan 9. We immediately moved into isolation.  Prior to Jan 7, I tested negative three times in Canada with antigen test and three times in Hawaii with PCR test. Due to slow processing of test samples and flight cancellation, we had to get three PCR tests between December 28 and 31.  On top of that, P won the lottery and was randomly selected to get tested yet again after arrival in Vancouver!  We finally made it to Edmonton on New Year’s Day!  We had our only complete family gathering at lunch in a very unique indoor open air restaurant.  All 14 members seated at two tables, altogether!  Imagine how priceless is that on a pandemic New Year’s Day!  Our luggage has a different story.  They arrived undamaged on a different flight 30 hours later!  Very thankful that they were delayed and not lost, and since we are staying with family, change of clothes was not an issue. It was inconvenient with the multiple PCR tests, flight cancellation and baggage delay.
